“Elprom - ILEP” Ltd. is the current and valid legal identification of the Testing Laboratory for Electrotechnical Products /ILEP/. Under the name ILEP, the laboratory has been known on the Bulgarian and international market since 1995 as part of the Institute of Electrotechnical Industry (now “Elprom - IEP” AD). Since 2000, product testing activities have been carried out by the Testing Laboratory for Electrotechnical Products /ILEP/ within the newly established company “Elprom - ILEP” Ltd.

The regular clients of “Elprom - ILEP” Ltd. include leading manufacturers and traders of electrical equipment, household and similar electrical appliances, electromedical devices and other products from England, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, China, Serbia and Macedonia. ILEP, as part of “Elprom - ILEP” Ltd., is an official subcontractor and works jointly with, and under the supervision of, Bulgarian and international Conformity Assessment Bodies and Product Certification Bodies. “Elprom - ILEP” Ltd. has contracts or works as a subcontractor for testing for conformity assessment and certification with TÜV Rheinland Bulgaria Ltd., SGS Bulgaria Ltd., TÜV Nord Bulgaria Ltd., ELTEST Certification Ltd. (LVD Body NB 2024), CEE Ltd. (NB 1815) and NGN Ltd. (NB 1888).

ILEP, as part of “Elprom - ILEP” Ltd., serves its partners in accordance with the regulations under Articles 6 and 7(1) of the Bulgarian Technical Requirements to Products Act or the corresponding EU directives. ILEP provides testing services and related activities for products that fall primarily within the scope of the Regulation on the essential requirements and conformity assessment of electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits, corresponding to the Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC), as well as other regulations, including the Regulation on the essential requirements and conformity assessment of machinery, corresponding to the Machinery Directive (98/37/EC), and the Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC). ILEP also serves persons placing on the market products excluded from the scope of the Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC) that fall within the scope of the General Product Safety Directive (92/59/EEC), implemented through the Consumer Protection Act. ILEP, as part of “Elprom - ILEP” Ltd., also conducts testing of certain electromedical devices and systems covered by the Medical Devices Directive (93/42/EEC), as well as electrical performance testing of products within the scope of the Toy Safety Directive (88/378/EEC) and the Personal Protective Equipment Directive (89/686/EEC).
